80th Anniversary of VE Day

Dear Parents and Carers

Re: 80th Anniversary of VE Day

As you may know, this year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) – a truly remarkable moment in our shared history. To commemorate this milestone, we will be celebrating VE Day in school on Thursday, 8th May 2025.

We would like the whole school community to get involved and make this a day to remember!

Dress Code
All staff and pupils are encouraged to come to school dressed in 1940s-style clothing. Think flat caps,
tea dresses, braces, headscarves, and wartime uniforms – let's really step back in time and bring the
spirit of the 1940s to life.

Afternoon Party
In the afternoon, each class will enjoy a traditional VE Day-style party, complete with music, food,
and games.
We will be providing food for all pupils.

Traditional Games We’ll Play
Here are a few classic wartime-era games the pupils will be enjoy during the celebrations:
* Hopscotch * Skipping rope contests
* Marbles * Pass the parcel
* Musical chairs * Coconut shy (or a classroom-friendly version!)
* Pin the tail on the donkey * Sack races or egg & spoon races (weather permitting)

Useful VE Day Resources

We are looking forward to this event and reflecting on the importance of peace and unity.

Kind Regards
